Hi There, I have been following Mark's food trips for a few years. I am posting here to see if someone can help. I went to Singapore 10 years ago and came across one dish I fell in love with in a food mall. It was called "aromatic chicken" I think. It was served in paper and when you opened it there was a beautiful spicy fragrant aroma. It was very cheap but a beautiful snack. I was hoping it was in Mark's guide!
I was back there 4 years ago and couldn't find in in the original food mall. Both stays were 2 day stopovers on way to visit daughter in Australia. I am going to Singapore for 5 days in March 2017 for my wifes 60th birthday – we LOVE the Singaporeans. I think we stayed the Swissotel The stamford and I think it had the food court we found this. Does anyone know the humble dish I'm talking about and where we could find it again?

Mellben Seafood restaurant. Go early, as there are long lines. They're famous for their chili crab, but the crab bee hoon is outstanding.

I would recommend "Beach Road Prawn Mee Eating House" (Address: 370 E Coast Rd, Singapore 428981) for some dark, rich and flavorful shrimp broth with noodles.
