Unagi (うなぎ) is freshwater eel and it’s a real delicacy in Japan. There are many many restaurant dedicated to serving only unagi, and in Tokyu you have plenty of choices. Thanks to my friend David (https://www.instagram.com/the.hungry.tourist/), I went to Obana Restaurant (尾花) which is a very highly rated, some say it’s the best, unagi in Tokyo.
What I like about Obana Restaurant (尾花) is that there are no reservations, so it’s first come, first serve, and it’s one of the classic Japanese food restaurants where you have to arrive early and wait in line for a chance to eat this legendary unagi. I arrived about 1 hour early, and already there were 20 people in the line in front of me. The wait was quite interesting, because as I was standing in line, a festival parade came walking right past.
The restaurant is within an old style Japanese building, with tatami floors, and you sit on the floor with a low table. They first steam the eel, and then grill it, and serve it in the lacquered box the traditional Japanese way.
I’ve had unagi before, but nothing compared to this unagi. It was absolutely exquisite, the most buttery perfectly cooked unagi I’ve ever had. Also, I liked how the sauce glaze was not overpowering like it sometimes can be, but it was light and just accented the wonderful eel.
Obana Restaurant (尾花) is not cheap, but the quality you get is mind-blowing.

Just introduced to eel at my local sushi spot and now im obsessed with it..this looks absolutely amazing, definitely next level…what i would do to try this plate
The eel rice is super tasty it is my favorite🤤😋
I just tried unagi yesterday , i still dont know what to think about it, it was good but very surprising when you think of Japan and fish as sushi, this was much more dense, i loved the consistency though! Right up my alley, very nice and fatty 😍
I just hate how he opens his eyes so big and goes "UmmmMmmmmMm"
Other than that top quality content
Yummy food look so nice
I love this BULIMIC/ANOREXIC Presenter! The only food vlogger that is THIN! My gosh!! Idol fan here!
これは特に素晴らしい鰻ですね
People line up for food for hours in the states too, we had a restaurant that was closing its doors ( family retiring ) and so many people were lined up when the place opened that the people at the end were waiting 4-5 hours to get in. Its not uncommon. The sitting on the floor thing ? How do they accommodate people in wheelchairs ?
I'm just here to leave a FRIENDS comment.
That unagi looks really delicious. Yum!
