TUCSON, ARIZONA - Welcome to Tucson, Arizona, a small city, with huge heart and a lot of delicious Mexican food. Today we’re going on an ultimate Mexican street food tour of Tucson, and I can’t wait to share all the food with you today!

Here are all the street food stalls, trucks, and restaurants we ate at:
Taqueria El Rapido: https://goo.gl/maps/y3f6GN9v2mrnZUhC8 - We started off with Taqueria El Rapido a laid back food truck selling a variety of different tacos. Mexi Papa ordered a combination taco for all of us, including asada, tripa, and cabeza, three wonderful different textures. It was a delicious taco and a great way to begin this food tour.
El Guero Canelo Restaurant: https://goo.gl/maps/83VH1GQEXy46YTvc8 - Sonoran hot dogs are one of the most popular foods in Tucson, and there are many to choose from. We decided on El Guero Canelo as it’s one of the most legendary, historical, and because this restaurant has even received a James Beard award - an award winning hot dog. It didn’t disappoint, a delicious creation.
Rollies Mexican Patio: https://goo.gl/maps/cBLJmU9auogWZ5yu6 - Next up for a modern twist to local Tucson Mexican food - Rollies. We had rolled tacos, flat enchiladas, carne asada fries, birria tacos, and birria ramen. You could taste the quality and amazing flavors. Great laid back spot with delicious Mexican Tucson style food.
Cocteleria La Palma Mariscos: https://goo.gl/maps/zqz6hc2Hcb9qah1T9 - When you have the meat sweats, head over to Cocteleria La Palma Mariscos for their ceviche and coctels. The mix of seafood was extremely refreshing and perfect for the hot afternoon in Arizona. I also thought their ceviche shrimp tostada was fantastic.

Tacos De Cabeza Estilo Cajeme: https://goo.gl/maps/jjoo3r9kv22S26h86 - Finally, probably one of my favorite places on this Mexican street food tour and favorite places in Tucson is Tacos De Cabeza Estilo Cajeme, where they specializes in head and tongue tacos. The owners are extremely friendly and their tacos will melt in your mouth.
And that completes this ultimate Mexican street food tour in Tucson, Arizona. We all really enjoyed it. Tucson has so much character, unique food, and friendly people.

Hey everyone hope you're having an amazing day. It's mark wiens, i'm in tucson arizona, which is an amazing food city, especially for mexican food. Today, we're gon na go on an ultimate mexican street food tour of tucson. We're gon na eat some incredible tacos.

Oh, it's gon na be spicy, it's gon na be meaty, it's gon na be juicy it's gon na be so good, and i am gon na share all of the food with you in this video. Let's go on an ultimate mexican street food tour of tucson good morning, yes, tucson foodie mark. How are you nice to meet you nice to meet you as well adam right, yes, pleasure to meet you pleasure to meet you also? Likewise, yes, dude? What a spot! Where are we at i'm kicking? This is taco rapido we're on uh uh benson highway good morning jeffrey mark. This seems like a purse backdrop, what a spot yeah the sonoran heatwave tour yeah, what a spot we're at takaria el rapido, which is a food truck kind of in a empty, barren lot right next to a circle k.

It is a blazing hot day today too. So we're calling this the the heatwave tour a i'm, not really going to put any sauce on these. Here we go. I got some.

Oh my gosh, i'm not going to sauce these right. We got a mix of different tacos, but we're going to first start off with the chile colorado, which is like a kind of a chili stew. Is it? Is it pork? It's beef, oh man, okay, and we want to get a well. This place is good busy.

Yeah well i'll selfie it maybe because we get closer. Oh, it's just dripping with juices in flavor. First taco today to the left. Oh yeah, that's insane! Oh it's so good! You got ta have a little red drippage on your fingers.

The meat is so tender oily. Chili gravy, even though it's oily it doesn't feel that heavy very balanced, a stew, yeah very balanced. Oh man, i think that's a two biter i feel like a wussy. I just did three bites.

Oh, i think you slacked on that one man all right wow. Thank you, tucson they're, spectacular what a move by mexi papa when i thought about taco and this taco i was thinking texture. So i wanted something a little hard like you know the salad but then again, uh the cabeza is a little soft, so it really gives it a little a little kick and then the crunchiness of the tripod. Look at that drip.

Oh yeah! No! This is a taco right here. I cannot wait any longer right. Baby, oh juices are just dripping all over the place. No words, oh wow.

What i'm talking about that is yeah the different textural values of that taco, a lot of complexity. There you've got like a caramelized crunchiness, a shredded meat aspect to it: uh chewy, three pot. That's all there! That's a textural heaven right there good recipe from papa good job. Now that was from drip, wow a swimming pool of salsa in my mouth, a pool, absolutely outstanding arizona.

You are mexi papa, approved and mark wiens approved. Oh thank you. You got it. That was a truly outstanding couple of tacos.

Oh man, what a way to begin! This food tour we're moving on to the next place. Let's go, let's go. This is one of the classic snoring dog spots. These guys even have a james beard award they've expanded to uh three or four locations, but this is the original and uh they have uh.
Some people think i think it's one of the better smart dogs in town. I love the look of this place from the outside. You can tell it has so much character. You can just tell that it used to be like that kind of shack at the front and then they just kind of built on silicon philton.

That's how you know a good spot. They just keep building on building on yo and they do have a bunch of different things on their menus from tacos to burritos. But definitely what you come here to eat are their sonoran style. Hot dogs, hot dog, we're gon na, go in the kitchen really fast and see how they're made tomato.

That's the right choice, jeffrey so beauties wrapped in bacon, they're, ripe, bacon, wrapped and, i believe the bread is it steamed or is it also grilled it is steamed? It's a special bread, it's steamed, they put the bacon wrapped hot dog on the inside and then i loved his style just kind of like flicking the tongs that oh man, you can just tell he could do it with his eyes closed. He's done it so many times he adds in some beans, some onions, caramelized, onions, some tomatoes, a number of different salsas and mayonnaise on top. Finally, it's a must we're ready to dig in and served with a grilled jalapeno on the side, absolutely beautiful, nice, oh yeah! You can already just feel the softness of that bread, just picking it up through the through the paper. You'll never want our standard hot dog bun after having one of these.

By the way, it's more like a boat yeah, it's a trough. I got it on my nose: the bread, that's the type of hot dog. You just want to put your face into oh wow. That could not be any better.

It's so pillowy the bread is so incredibly pillowy. You've got the sausage. The bacon in there, like you, want to bite. Okay, the tube steak on the inside there, the variety of salsas plus the mustard plus the mayonnaise, the onions, the beans in there.

Oh juicy, oh wow, it's so good! It's so flavorful! Oh, it's delicious, daddy! Oh mexi! Papa's feeling it burn baby burn, it's just a spectacular harmony of all things. The the hot dog just literally, is blanketed. By that pillowy dough we're going to take the final bite outside yeah. It's actually the final bite outside, because the tractor is really cool.

I'm glad you guys got to experience these award-winning regional favorite, oh man, this is a true heritage, culinary pilgrimage destination, where's coming to tucson, just to have this sonoran dog. It would be worth it. I would drive 10 hours for this yeah wow totally worth it totally. I would fly all the way from bangkok, for this wait.

Wait a minute, happy, happy arizona! You are mexi papa, approved and mark wiens approved the sonora dog and truly a tucson culinary staple a james beard, hot dog, but again the james beard award not only for the hot dog, but for the community aspect of this el huero canelo. That was superb. Okay, we're on our way to the next place next up on this ultimate food tour of tucson, rowley's mexican patio, and what is it known for? What's the story behind this place, you know so chef, mateo otero, who unfortunately, is not here today um. He opened this place up with the idea that the main idea, the main thing, was going to be the road tacos.
He was brought up here. Um, so he's got a good sense of traditional cuisine, tucson flavors, um and and modern cuisine. That's great man. So it's really it's like its own identity.

Yeah. I mean it's mexican, but it's got its own little tucson twist to it with a name like rollies. I don't think you can go wrong and they specialize in all things rolled taquitos and enchiladas. We just met with the amazing friendly owner and they're going to prepare us a bunch of food to try and they are getting started rolling.

Some tacos and they're gon na deep fry some tacos, some taquitos they're good. The meats are frying. It smells so good in this kitchen we're just gon na i'm gon na try to get a few shots of all the cooking happening on all sides of the kitchen. So what is this? This is the beauty of flat media flat, enchilada flat enchilada, okay, so he's just going to make the cup that's out of fries funny.

We need to make a make a run for the table. All of that food is ready. Our order is huge. Thank you.

So much, that's amazing! Thank you. Oh man, thank you for having us. Thank you guys. It looks amazing.

You don't know we watched. We watched your show, yeah see this guy all over instagram. Thank you, your wife, your son. Thank you very much so crazy.

All right! These are our flat enchiladas um. These are our raw tacos. You can either get it with the rojo sauce or gesso sauce, and this is our garnish on the fries right here. It's tucson food right here with a little twist to it.

Where do we start, though? Oh man, you know it's rollies, you might as well start with yeah tacos start with the rollies. Oh yeah, oh wow, oh yeah, baby potato in there, spices, salsa potato, oh man. I do want to rehydrate and redress this last bite here. You know what i am learning so much from this man rehydrate and redress, and we're good okay, i'm desperate to try the flat enchilada.

Oh yeah, oh wow, okay! This is totally unique. It's really thick like a heavy base. The meat is so flavorful the sauce. Just the right amount of cheese.

It's not over cheesed, so spicy yeah flat enchilada, is scoop off of the rim. It's so shocky wow, that's good! That's good! Stuff! Yeah! That's good! The sauce is what makes it is what uh kind of pops the flavor in there. No, you know, you know what i think if a pupusa and a sophie were to have a baby, don't have this right here, it's flat, enchilada, yes, birya tacos! Next, the juiciness that dip that very lean, not greasy at all mm-hmm flavorful, popcorn flavor perfectly clean little tiny little crunch. Oh yeah, baby, that's cilantro in there, but just the juiciness of the beef but yeah.
I do like how it's lean. Beef just keeps on dripping. It sounds dripping baby, even though the contour is not oily. Yeah, that's really nice.

Sometimes you get it it's so oily right. This is so clean. We just had a bath in kansume wow, i'm dripping in meat juices. This is a move.

You have to do really fast. That was a promo by the way pro move right. There drop on your shirt like that. Look at that.

Well, china's out of fries, so french fries go on a variety of cheeses jalapenos. I need a jalapeno and a variety of cheeses, all the fries, the crispiness, the soft interior, the warm gooeyness all those toppings yeah. So this is the birya ramen, the noodles on the bottom, then birya beef that same birya, which was in the tacos. Then he added in all of that soup, jalapenos cabbage cilantro, some onions in there too.

Yes, this is my take on the beer ramen. Okay, i have many of them. What i like is that they pre-cooked their noodles. They usually cook them about 70, and then they let the juice cook the rest of it.

That's a good video ramen. What i don't like is when they put all those ramen in there not cooked and they throw a beer in there. So this is a ground beef, patty, taco dorado, it's a traditional tucson taco and it's garnished with lettuce, peas and yellow cheese. My great grandmother's been making these tacos with peas.

I still don't know where the peas came from, but they're delicious give peas a chance get piece of chats. I never never seen a taco with peace. Oh yeah success. It's like a taco burger but, like it tastes like a sausage, patty kind of on the inside yeah yeah.

It's like a sausage patty, deep, fried and taste within a hard shell and the peas are they're just kind of in the background. Yeah they're subtle, you can tell it's definitely a comfort food, a comfort taco for sure you are makes you papa approved. Thank you chef. Thank you huge thank you to chef, matteo and his wife for their amazing hospitality.

Just good food, great people. We are sonoran, heatwave taco tour, it's 120 degrees in the shade. So i hope you guys know there are plenty of sit-down traditional restaurants in tucson american, italian, indian, new uh. You know california cuisine new american, but i'm taking you to some of these places that, i think just are.

You know a little bit uh more more sonoran, exactly where we want to be, and while we're at it, i just want to say a huge thank you to adam for showing us the best spot. If you go to tucson foodie his website, he has literally eaten everything in all of tucson, literally everything he is the mayor of the sun included in all the am pms and 7-elevens. But if you are coming to circle, if you are coming to tucson and you love food, go to tucson foodie, there's nowhere else to go. Thank you mark.
I just love the food in tucson. How it's so laid back. People are friendly within empty lots. You'll find lots of street food food carts.

Next up, we ordered their mixed ceviche and i think a cocktail de mariscos mix of seafood. Oh it looks so good. It looks so refreshing, it's probably really cool uh, there's onions in there there's some avocado in there plus all the mix of seafood. It's served with a whole little packet of toppings and sides, saltine crackers, tortilla chips, salsa and lime who knew ceviche in the desert ceviche.

In the desert, i guess we're not that far from the ocean, i just learned something. Apparently one version of ceviche is a scoop of chopped shrimp. Oh refreshing, oh back to life will be la vida. This is what i was talking about.

One is hot water cocktail. All the way here we go, i'm gon na dig in for a spoon, some avocado, a mix of that seafood. Some of that octopus, exactly it's so refreshing, it's like exactly what we need, after all, that meat and all of the heat, the meat and heat the meat heat tour, the tomatoeyness of it. I love how there's diced up cucumber cucumber, that's! What's the cool cucumber is making it refreshing, the cilantro, the onions in there, the tomatoey soup and then that mix of fresh seafood and avocado? Oh, it's great, oh yeah, with the lime in there the salsa, oh yeah, shrimp, ceviche - and this looks incredible.

I love how they diced everything, so fine, beautiful with one piece of avocado. Look at that juice wow. That is refreshing. Oh it's so good, the mix of onions, cucumbers, tomatoes and a shot, a shot of ceviche juice.

I love their ratio of ingredients. Lots of cucumber in there to make it so refreshing, good call jeffrey. I think this is the the star pick at this place. This is seriously good yeah.

I didn't believe you tucson foodie, and you said we get good speech in the desert and i would like to apologize to all your followers, oh with a little more salsa on it. It's a spot, don't miss it when you're in tucson to complete this tour. This mexican food tour of tucson, we are having tacos de cabeza. This is a popular spot.

Head tacos are some of my favorite tacos and immediately the owner. She is so incredibly friendly. You guys are so nice. This has to be the friendliest food stall in all of arizona, and they have just welcomed me into the back into the food truck.

I'm gon na see the head tacos being prepared in the kitchen now that cabeza cabeza is the head meat. So all the different head, which is just steamed, it's so soft, it's so tender, oh, that smells so good foreign, okay, the steam bath aromas of meat in here are just out of control. Oh, what a spot cannot wait. These are the real deal.
Taco de cabeza, head tacos also ordered some lengua tacos because he showed me that, and they looked so good. I had to order that too, but wow. The friendliness is just shining that meat looks so good. I got four head tacos and two tongue tacos uh, and he serves the cilantro and the onions on the side with salsas with kansumei.

The consumer also looks incredible i'll start with a head taco. Look at that ratio of meat to tortilla load it up with a bit of onions and cilantro. I'm gon na try the red salsa, oh wow, oh, that is unbelievable. The meat is so tender and so fatty it just melts in your mouth.

It's so incredibly flavorful. The crunch of the onions and the cilantro, and then that salsa, that is the head meat tacos, are some of the best because of that i've always loved tacos decabeza because of the mix of fatty textures, and it's so moist it's so it's so soft and tender. These are two biter tacos. Add in some of that.

Salsa is amazing, a little bit of squeeze of lime. It has a similar flavor, but the tongue has a little bit of a different texture from the head tacos, both equally outstanding. I might do a little dippage into the consumer, reduce it. Oh, oh, it's hot! It's dripping! It's juicy! You got ta! Take this to your mouth fast.

This is just peak happiness right now, the soup, with a bunch of head meat in it too wow. That is rich, that is oily. That is hearty unbelievably flavorful. I'm not sure if this one is salsa.

I hope it is oh yeah that one is a habanero, that that is what i was looking for: oh not only for the heat but the flavor of habanero. That just burst of uh, almost acidic chili, wonder outstanding. This is just pure happiness, pure absolute happiness and joy, a testament to how good the food is and how friendly just amazingly warm and welcome. They are look at this place.

Chef, carlos and choco choco - and we are you - have to come here when you're in tucson. They are the friendliest people all right and that's going to actually bring us to the end of this mexican street food tour of tucson. I want to say first of all, just how much fun it's been, how delicious the food has been and the people the friendliness of the people as well huge.
