SUKHOTHAI, THAILAND - Sukhothai was the ancient capital of Siam, and in Sukhothai, there’s a wealth of Thai history and culture. It was my first time visit, and I was very excited to explore some of the best Thai street food in Sukhothai, and to also visit the Sukhothai Historical Park. Let’s explore and eat through Sukhothai, Thailand! #Sukhothai #ThaiFood #streetfood
Market - We started the morning at the local market, within the old part of Sukhothai. The market was quiet and charming, not too busy, but friendly. There wasn't a lot of pre-cooked food to eat, but mainly ingredients.
Grilled banana (āļ‚āļ™āļĄāļāļĨāđ‰āļ§āļĒ) - 5 THB ($0.16) - We did find some delicious grilled bananas and rice snacks at the front of the market grilling in banana leaf packets. One of them tasted like fresh banana bread, which was great.
Ta Puy Noodle (āļāđ‹āļ§āļĒāđ€āļ•āļĩāđ‹āļĒāļ§āļŠāļļāđ‚āļ‚āļ—āļąāļĒāļ•āļēāļ›āļļāđ‰āļĒ) - Even though there wasn’t much food to eat at the market, that was alright, because our main breakfast in Sukhothai was to eat famous Sukhothai noodles, which are well known across Thailand, especially famous in Bangkok. We went to a restaurant that is know to serve the original Sukhothai Noodles (āļāđ‹āļ§āļĒāđ€āļ•āļĩāđ‹āļĒāļ§āļŠāļļāđ‚āļ‚āļ—āļąāļĒ). The noodles were very good, kind of sweet for me, but well balanced in flavor at the same time. I did really like their variation of Pad Thai. Price - 40 THB ($1.30) per bowl
Sukhothai Historical Park - 100 THB ($3.24) - Next on this Thai street food tour of Sukhothai, we did some sightseeing of the amazing Sukhothai Historical Park. It’s one of the best and most preserved ancient sites of Thailand. We rented bicycles and cruised around, visiting some of the most iconic historical sites:
Wat Maha That (āļ§āļąāļ”āļĄāļŦāļēāļ˜āļēāļ•āļļ āļŠāļļāđ‚āļ‚āļ—āļąāļĒ)
Wat Si Sawai (āļ§āļąāļ”āļĻāļĢāļĩāļŠāļ§āļēāļĒ āļŠāļļāđ‚āļ‚āļ—āļąāļĒ)
Wat Si Chum (āļ§āļąāļ”āļĻāļĢāļĩāļŠāļļāļĄ āļŠāļļāđ‚āļ‚āļ—āļąāļĒ)
Fuang Fah Restaurant (āļĢāđ‰āļēāļ™āļāļēāļŦāļēāļĢāđ€āļŸāļ·āđˆāļāļ‡āļŸāđ‰āļē) - When the sun got really hot, we headed to Fuang Fah Restaurant (āļĢāđ‰āļēāļ™āļāļēāļŦāļēāļĢāđ€āļŸāļ·āđˆāļāļ‡āļŸāđ‰āļē) restaurant in Sukhothai city for a spicy meal of river fish. The owner family was so nice and hospitable, and we ordered some of their most unique special dishes. Here are a few of the special dishes we ordered:
Crunchy catfish curry (āļ‰āļđāđˆāļ‰āļĩāđˆāļ›āļĨāļēāļ”āļļāļāļŸāļđ)
Asian redtail catfish, fresh chili (āļ›āļĨāļēāļ„āļąāļ‡āļœāļąāļ”āļžāļĢāļīāļāļŠāļ”)
Snakehead fish tom yum (āļ•āđ‰āļĄāļĒāļģāļ›āļĨāļēāļŠāđˆāļāļ™)
Food was spectacular, and I loved how she added in chili paste, fresh and dry chilies to each dish to give them huge spice and flavor. An amazing meal, must eat at a restaurant when you’re in Sukhothai and if you love spicy food!
Total price - 790 THB ($25.60)
We completed this tour of Sukhothai, Thailand by going to Wat Si Chum (āļ§āļąāļ”āļĻāļĢāļĩāļŠāļļāļĄ āļŠāļļāđ‚āļ‚āļ—āļąāļĒ). Although it was already closed when we arrived, it was still possible to walk around and see from the outside. It was a great way to end an amazing day in Sukhothai, Thailand!
Thank you for watching this full Thai street food and attractions tour of Sukhothai, Thailand!

The reason why the Khmer Influence is displayed through these temples is because it was all land that belong to the Khmer Empire which was Cambodia Laos and Thailand combined together. Basically covering most of South East Asia. I'm Thai and Lao and know that we're descendants of the khmer people. The Khmer Empire started from 802 CE to 1431 CE. A lot of people are not aware but it is deeply rooted history that's not widely know to many others.
