Koko Head hike is one of the most strenuous hikes on the island of Oahu - located on the outskirts of Honolulu, Hawaii.
The hike goes straight up the side of Koko Head Crater, following a old cable car railroad. The top of the mountain was originally a military bunker so the cable cars were there in order to transport good from the bottom to the top.
Today the cable car is no longer functioning but is instead open to the public as a hiking trail. The trail leads up 1080 steps to the top.
On the trail you just follow the railroad ties step by step. In the middle of the hike there's a small bridge that you need to cross, however if that proves to be too frightening, you can take the trail around the bridge.
Koko Head hike offers an extremely magnificent view from the top of the mountain with a view of downtown Honolulu, Waikiki and also Hawaii Kai and Hanauma Bay.
The hike should take anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes, depending on your level of fitness.
By the way, it's quite a demanding hike, it will surely get your heart pumping!

Advice: Don't go up and reach the top just as the sun has set, so that you're forced to go down in the dark. I may have been dumb enough to do that.

Hiked this trail many times when I lived in Oahu and my fastest time was 26 minutes. I've also hiked the entire crater rim from the botanical garden side of the crater. Fantastic hike with fantastic views.

lol I went there this morning
20 minutes?! It took me an hour and a half. Meanwhile I saw this chick with a baby on her back with one of those strap things. On my way up she passed me, and later on her way down she passed me again and I was still going up! Hardest workout of my life. Can't believe there are people who do this regularly. Beautiful sights though.
great video ๐ I just made a vlog on this hike too! i love the information you talk about at the beginning of your video ๐
Why is there no sound?
