Meat Paradise in Romania at Ferma Dacilor (https://www.fermadacilor.ro/) - During my trip to Romania, we went to a place called Ferma Dacilor, one of the most unique and special meals and food experiences of my trip to Romania. The entire concept is straight farm to table, where nearly everything they serve, from the meat to the vegetables and seasoning, are grown, produced, and aged, on location at the farm.
Medieval BBQ Cooking - Not only is the food fresh and local, but they strive to cook things in the ancient way, they way their ancestors cooked - over fire, rustic, iron, and huge portions of Romanian food.
Along with the 110 KG pig they roasted whole, one of the highlights for me was trying Mangalica pig, a type of hairy pig that almost looks like a sheep. The fat is said to be quite healthy, with little to no cholesterol. The meat was fatty and delicious.
Huge thank you to Cornelo and his entire family for hosting us and for making our time at Ferma Dacilor so memorable. One of the best Romanian food experiences!

Made me hungry!!! These folks know how to live! I would love to visit this place… Hello from New Mexico.
This is just typical Romanian food, cooked in the peasant way. It's not medieval Romanian food. That alcoholic drink is called palinca or tuca (pronouned tzuca) or home brew. Many peasants make it. Romanians also like to pickle cabbage, red peppers, green tomatoes to eat mainly over the winter months when fresh vegatables were hard to find. Mancare la gratar or barbecued food, meat. When Romanians go camping they like to make jumari or bacon over the fire pit and eat it over a slice of bread maybe with a tomatoe or some onion. Romanians also eat all sorts of salami called carnati as well as cured bacon (cold cuts) along with cheeses. I would say, our main cheeses are telemea or Romanian feta cheese, branza de burduf, and Cas (pronounced cash, long a sound : )) Some of my favourite!! Pofta mare!! I recognize my language of course, but those men didn't seem too friendly. They almost seemed aggressive and their English was very minimal. They also seemed to be ridiculing, impatient. I would say they were treating a Westerner with somewhat hostility. This is very typical of people that grew up in the communist system toward Americans (esp.) and also Westerners.
where do we get the head warmers you were all wearing?
Locația o știe cineva ?

I’m a vegetarian, but this makes me drool all over my broccoli…🤤
Watched this for the first time during covid and only now, am I going to Romania. Rewatching this is prompting me to lose a day skiing to stay at Ferma Dacilor. This video is insane.
I totally enjoyed this episode. It shows the exuberant hospitality of the people of the Balkans.
Foarte frumos!
