When you’re in the Kelapa Gading area of Jakarta and looking for an amazing Indonesian seafood feast, Wiro Sableng Seafood 212 is one of the most famous places of them all. Starting as a small warung, a family local restaurant, the seafood restaurant has grown into one of Jakarta’s most recognized seafood spots. Even Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo frequents the restaurant!
On this day in Jakarta, I jumped in a taxi to get to Kelapa Gading, and since I had a little extra time, my wife and I first stopped at Pempek Palembang & Otak - Otak 161 to try some very famous pempek Palembang, which is a type of fishcake originally from Palmebang in southern Sumatra. I especially liked the original one with an egg in the middle, but I didn't like the grilled fish ball too much.
After Pempek Palembang & Otak - Otak 161, we then walked over to Wiro Sableng Seafood 212 and met up with Leonard and Iyoel to eat seafood. They ordered all the food, and we soon had an incredible Indonesian seafood feast spread on our table. Everything we ate was delicious, but I especially enjoyed the mussels lathered in Padang sauce, and the crab baked in a banana leaf wrapper. And not forgetting the ikan bakar. Ok everything was incredible delicious. Wiro Sableng Seafood 212 is legendary, but it’s for good reason, they serve some incredible food.
After finishing the Indonesian seafood feast at Wiro Sableng Seafood 212, we then drove over to Six Ounces Coffee Shop, for an excellent cup of coffee to finish off lunch.
Big thank you to Leonard and Iyoel for inviting Ying and I to have lunch!

Commenting as a Southern Sumatran here:
    1. The green sauce is actually for the grilled one, and you also can add cuko to the grilled one
    2. You supposed to submerge that type of pempek in cuko, hence the name kapal selem (submarine pempek).
    3. No one in Palembang eats kapal selem with yellow egg noodle, we eat it with vermicelli instead.
    4. Real deal cuko supposed to be dark brown, almost black in color, a little bit more viscous, and spicy.
