Part two of my Ghorepani Poon Hill trek video begins with an early morning wake up in Ghorepani to begin the ascent to the top of Poon Hill for the morning sunrise view. It was extremely cold, below freezing, so we were quite happy to have rented down jackets to combat the freezing weather. It took about an hour trekking in the dark to reach the top, and we arrived just before the sun began to rise. There was quite a crowd at the top of Poon Hill to see the sunrise, but that didn't take away from the beauty of the view. After the amazing view, we headed back down, enjoying more and more views of the Annapurna range until reaching back to the guest house. We then had a hearty breakfast before packing up our bags and hitting the trail again. Day three of the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek included an initial strenuous hike, that provided more amazing views of the mountains. We then trekked through some tough trails that included ice and snow. We continued on our way to Gandruk, passing through small villages and snacking along the way. We stopped for lunch which was another delicious plate of dal bhat, rice with vegetables and dal soup and a killer spicy chili sauce that went down nicely. After another long hard day of trekking we arrive at Gandruk for the night. Gandruk was one of the most beautiful town on the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek.
On day four we woke up leisurely, enjoying the incredibly view and having a huge breakfast of dal bhat. We packed up and after admiring the view one more time, it was time to continue on our way to Deurali, a small trekking station. It was a long trek again, we had many ups and downs that were hard on the knees, but again it was incredible scenery. We passed through many farms and trekked high on the ridge. Since I had eaten a huge breakfast, I decided to eat my muesli and water for lunch, accompanied by some peanuts and other snacks. We continued hiking until finally reaching the small little village of Deurali, a very quiet and peaceful place. Our guest house was warm and friendly and for dinner I decided to order one of the all time best combinations, rice and an omelet. It was delicious and hit the spot incredibly so I was ready for bed.
After another night of sleeping incredibly well, we woke up on day five of the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek to finish the hike. We began in Deurali before making it out of the Annapurna sanctuary park. While we could have taken a bus or taxi back into Pokhara from there, we continued hiking to the Eco Village, a small guest house where our guide was going to take us to relax at the end of our hike. Before we arrived I had an incredible plate of dal bhat that included a plate of fried chicken on the side - it was a delicious celebration meal.
The entire Ghorepani Poon Hill trek was of medium difficulty, but it provided extremely beautiful scenery of the Himalaya mountains of Nepal!
