Yes, the real name of this restaurant is Cheap Cheap Restaurant, and it’s located just down the road from the main drag of Ao Nang - the touristy central of Krabi. There are a lot of restaurants in Ao Nang that cater to mostly touristy, both international restaurants and Thai restaurants.
Through some family contacts, we went to Cheap Cheap Restaurant, and I was quite impressed with the menu… they literally had almost everything, from every corner of Thailand on their menu - there must be hundreds of dishes to choose from. While they did have some popular touristy dishes like pad Thai, they also had some seriously good southern and even northern Thai dishes. Soon I found out that the chef at Cheap Cheap restaurant in Ao Nang was a former hotel chef, and knew how to cook just about every type of Thai dish.
We first began with a coconut to drink, which was incredibly sweet and refreshing. I don’t drink coconut too often, but I really enjoy them when I do. They are so fresh and hydrating and just naturally sweet.
The main dish I was most interested in trying was their version of pla sai tod kamin (ปลาทรายทอดขมิ้น), deep fried fish made with sand whiting fish, which are kind of small French fry sized fish, which are quite popular to eat in Krabi. The stack of fish came to our table extremely crispy, and topped with a mound of crispy turmeric and garlic, and served with a chili garlic lime sauce on the side. They were extremely delicious.
The other dishes we ordered at Cheap Cheap Restaurant in Krabi included, kai jeow (ไข่เจียว) - a Thai style omelet, soup neua (ซุปเนื้อ) - beef soup, gaeng som cha om kai (แกงส้มกุ้งชะอมไข่) - soup with climbing wattle omelet inside.
All the dishes we tried at Cheap Cheap Restaurant were excellent. I think it’s a good restaurant in Ao Nang to order a diverse range of good Thai food.

I couldn’t find the restaurant
I wish I saw this videos before eating at Ao Nang! Most of the food there was rather disappointing and very obviously catered to tourists 🙁
The restaurant is no longer there I suppose?
Hi mark in ao nang is cheap cheap restaurant still open in ao namg
Follow me ouech
Isit halal?
Im in Krabi now but it seems to have closed 😔
Hi Mark did they relocated, I can’t find them on google map
Wow, what an awesome restaurant!!! I loved the dishes that they served you!!! I am a little bit scared though of eating whole fishes. I tried to eat whole and small fishes, that i think were deep fryed, in France one time, but I just couldn't make it! I was so scared of like chewing the eyes and stuff…. I like keeping it safe when it comes to food. I barely dare to try things like rabbit (they had it in France) and duck. It's soooo scary….
Thank you for a lovely video. I can't wait to travel to Thailand one day and exploring everything nice there.
Lots of peace and love from Sweden.
Sadly the restaurant is 'Permanently Closed' 🙁
Ate there a lot when me and my girlfriend lived in Ao Nang! Stayed there for 13 months 🙂
There was a short lady with purple hair (sometimes) who gave me the most spicy prik they had and it almost killed me hahah
Ao Nang is a beautiful place. Many many wonderful little eateries all over the place. They made the best and freshest Mango Shakes ever. And of course yellow curries are top shelf. Massoman curry I like because they have vegetables like potatoes and carrots in it, in addition to the other stuff
Thai dishes very delicious food video👍😋💯😍💖
The food always looks cold to eat. Not impressed lol unless that is the recipe.
