When i was in Cairo, I managed to eat a lot of street food and there were so many different delicious things to eat. And not only is does the food taste good, it's so cheap it's nearly impossible to resist! While I enjoyed lots of dishes like falafel, sandwiches, hawawshy and starch filled kushari, it was the street side ful medames mashed fava beans that I enjoyed the most.
The next time you visit Cairo and need some great street food that's tasty and filling don't forget to try some ful medames!

Fuul is one of my faves but it is not just a version of refried beans. The secret to the dish are the accompaniments: lots of garlic, tomatoes, parsley onions, spices and so much more. Don't judge the dish by the fill-me-up street version.
