Every year in Udon Thani, from the 1st -12th of December is the annual Ngan Prajam Bi Thung Si Muang Udon Thani festival (งานประจําปีทุ่งศรีเมืองอุดรธานี).
Udon Thani (อุดรธานี) is a city in the Isaan region of northeastern Thailand, and one of the largest cities in Isaan, located not too far from the border of Laos.
I happen to be visiting Udong Thani, this year, 2014, during the festival, and we were able to catch some of the parades and celebrations on both December 1st and December 5th, which is also Father's Day in Thailand.
Here's just a quick video about the festival in Udon Thani (งานประจําปีทุ่งศรีเมืองอุดรธานี). I especially enjoyed the dragon dancing, and the boy being hoisted in the air on top of a bamboo pole to slay the dragon!
Hope you enjoy this festival video, and thank you for watching.

Looks Awesome, But it would have been more spectacular to see in person.

I saw this back in 2003, and it's a terrific time. Great footage! Makes me hungry for some good Isaan food!
After I watched this video, it make me homesick since I'm in London now studying and Udonthani is my homwtown
I would definitely come to see that kind of festivity.
Awesome footage Mark! I was born and grew up in Udon Thani. I live in the States now. I visited Thailand and my home town last year in February. Have you been to "UD Town" yet there are a lot of awesome street food there. Hope you have a chance to spend more time in Udon Thani. Thanks for all the awesome videos. I'm a big fan. Safe travel and always eat a lot of delicious food along the way.
Is that a real cobra? Do it not heart them?
WOW!!!! I am so impressed . . . Keep them coming . . . may we make a financial donation to your work?? (It may not be large but every bit helps.
As a Chinese I felt very ashamed! This is a very southern China Chinese festival but sadly now we only see them in Thailand and some part of Malaysia. In Singapore where I stay, we see this once in a blue blue moon and in a far far smaller scale. Thank you Mark Wiens for sharing this great video!
Wonderful piece. Any info on the festival food?
Have you ever learned about Thai language before?
It's really good to see you using Thai word. Keep going on 🙂
thanx for sharing
Nice dragons dance haha …
Man wish i was there. Udon Thani is my hometown!
